I am working with the CPS dataset on Ferrett and wanted to start a discussion on how to create a geographic control at the county level. For instance, using the March Supplement data, these variables GTCO and GESTEN are for the state (GESTEN) and counties (GTCO). In the GTCO variable it states Please note that these county codes must be used in conjunction with state codes to create unique county identifiers as county codes start with 001 in each state. I tried to choose the state first then the county, but I am still not sure how to create county level variable for one or more states. Please post to this if you have any answers or suggestions. I will do the same if I find out how to do this.
