Creating your own Policy File

If you are using the DataFerrett Applet and you wish to create your own policy file simply copy the text from this link into Notepad. Select "File", "Save As", go to "Save as text", select "All Files", and save the file as ".java.policy" (with dots) and place it into the Windows directory depending on your operating system:

C:\Windows\Profiles\username on multiuser Windows 95 and 98 systems

C:\Windows on singler-user on Windows 95 and 98 systems

C:\Winnt\Profiles\username on Windows NT, XP

C:\Documents and Settings\username on Windows 2000, XP

NOTE:

If you are unable to save the file as ".java.policy", then you should save the file as "java.policy". Go to the appropriate folder location where you saved the file and change the file name in your windows explorer. After saving the policy file, close all the windows for your browser and restart the applet. You should now be able to copy and paste text to and from DataFerrett as with any other Windows application.
