DataFerrett gives you two (2) options to access data on TheDataWeb:

a Web version as a JAVA Applet that you access data through your internet browser on the DataFerrett web site.
a desktop BetaApplication with an icon that sits on your desktop and gets data through your internet connection

TheDataWeb Browser: DataFerrett WebVersion using a JAVA Applet

The DataFerrett using the JAVA Applet accesses the data using your browser (Netscape, Internet Explorer). The access page showing the progress bar should remain open at all times. The DataFerrett using the JAVA Applet will also require an additional file for saving, cutting and pasting.

TheDataWeb Browser: BetaDataFerrett Application

The BetaDataFerrett Application runs from your desktop and accesses TheDataWeb data collection through your internet connection. Be sure that you are connected to your internet (logged on outside your firewall) before you begin a BetaDataFerrett session. Having a browser open is not necessary when using the BetaDataFerrett Application.
