 BetaDataFerrett?
If you have already installed BetaDataFerrett you will just need to launch the current version and it will offer the update. Please select "OK" and the update will automatically install. It will give you the instruction to restart BetaDataFerrett.
The BetaDataFerrett that is being tested now (version 1.3.2) focused on fixed bugs.
What's New:
Some of the fixes/enhancements in BetaDataFerrett:
– Double-clicking on a variable from the list in the Spreadsheet, will bring up the Ferret Browse Variable window (codebook).
– If you load your own DataWeb server, now add points to your maps;
– supports multi-dimensional data;
– flags are available for variables that use flags;
– bug fixed using recodes in tabulations;
– ability to create combination variable of other variables;
– ability to recode geographic (concatenated) variables, thus able to create a recode based on multiple variables;
– spanners in the tabulation will carry over to HotReports.

For new BetaTesters: BetaDataFerrett is the BetaTesting version of the DataFerrett application. This version will incorporate the latest bug fixes, enhancements, and new functionality that will be rolled into the DataFerrett application after testing has been completed.
DataFerrett users are encouraged to run the BetaDataFerrett version before it is officially released to the public as a new updated version. Please, run previously saved sessions as well as create new sessions.
Feedback
Development of a tool like the DataFerrett requires continuous user input of the user's needs and experiences. Feedback (i.e., usability, functionality) will make this a more beneficial tool. Give us your ideas and comments by calling the DataFerrett Help Desk (toll free) 1-866-437-0171 or email the DataFerrett Team at
dsd_ferrett@census.gov. Put "BetaDataFerrett" in the subject line. Save your DataBasket and your Tabulation (.fsf or .ftf files) and include these files as attachments to your email. Copy the Extraction links into your email to the Team. These files are crucial to our ability to replicate your experience in order to facilitate a resolution.
For MacIntosh users we have developed a MacBetaDataFerrett. Please take note of the instructions above regarding the purpose and functionality restrictions that apply to testing and usage of any beta version software.
Updates
Please be advised that the updates to the BetaDataFerrett will be coming on a constant and regular basis. These updates will be incorporating the errors, bugs and fixes that you, the BetaDataFerrett Tester, will be submitting to the DataFerrett Team. Please alert the DataFerrett Team to your findings by emailing the Help Desk: dsd_ferrett@census.gov.
